I’m a wife, mama x3, and lifestyle photographer based in Northwest Indiana. Most days you’ll find me with a coffee in hand, chasing toddlers, editing in cozy clothes, or dreaming up my next creative shoot.
I specialize in capturing families, motherhood, love stories, and all the beautiful chaos in between. So, the real-life, giggle-filled, messy, magical moments you’ll want to hold onto forever. I’m all about photos that feel like you: honest, warm, and full of connection.
Whether we're laughing through a family session or documenting a milestone, I promise to show up with patience, heart, and a little bit of silliness (especially if it helps your kids smile). I can’t wait to tell your story.

Planning family photos with toddlers in South Bend can feel exciting… and a little stressful. You love the idea of updated family pictures. However, you may feel less excited when you imagine your toddler running in the opposite direction, refusing to look at the camera, or deciding this exact moment is the perfect time for a snack-related emergency😂
Here is the good news: your toddler does not need to sit still or smile on command for beautiful photos.
As a South Bend family photographer who works with young children all the time, I never expect perfect behavior. In fact, I would much rather photograph your child playing, exploring, cuddling, and showing me who they really are. That is where the photos that feel like your family come from.
If you are considering family photos with toddlers in South Bend, here is what you can expect from a relaxed, child-led session with me.

I put “cooperate” in quotation marks because toddlers are not tiny adults. They are curious, busy, opinionated little people. Sitting perfectly still and smiling at a stranger with a camera is not exactly at the top of their to-do list. Honestly.. I get it!
We will absolutely try for a photo where everyone is looking at the camera. I know grandparents love those, and they are always nice to have. Still, that one picture is not the entire goal of your session.
I also want to capture the way your toddler reaches for your hand, the scrunched-up nose they make when they laugh, and the way they fit into your arms right now. Years from now, those little details may be the things you miss most.

Child-led does not mean I show up with my camera and simply hope for the best. I will still guide your family throughout the session. I will help with where to stand, what to do, and how to interact so you never feel awkward or wonder what to do with your hands.
The difference is that I pay attention to your child’s personality and energy. Then, I adjust the session around what is working for them.
Some children are ready to play with me right away. Others need time to watch, warm up, or stay close to a parent. Both responses are completely normal.
I do not expect your child to immediately trust a new person holding a large camera. We can begin with simple family snuggles, walking together, or letting them explore while I photograph from a little farther away.
Toddlers usually do much better when they have something to do. Instead of constantly asking them to sit still, we might walk, dance, race, play a game, look for something nearby, or pile together for tickles.
Of course, not every prompt works for every family. I pay attention and switch things up when needed. The goal is not to force a moment. It is to create space for a real one to happen.
Sometimes a child needs a drink, a snack, a diaper change, or a minute with Mom or Dad. We can pause. There is no award for rushing through a session, and a short break will not ruin anything.
In fact, quiet moments can create some of the sweetest photographs. A toddler calming down in your arms is still part of your family’s story.

As a mom of three young kids, I understand how quickly a child’s mood can change. I also know how stressful it feels when you have planned the outfits, gotten everyone ready, and just want things to go well.
Before becoming a full-time photographer, I spent five years working with children on the autism spectrum. That experience shaped the patient, flexible approach I bring to my sessions today. I understand that every child communicates, connects, and responds differently.
You never need to apologize to me because your child is shy, energetic, sensitive, silly, or having a hard moment. I promise I have worked with all kinds of personalities. My job is to meet your family where you are.

You do not need to spend weeks training your toddler for picture day. A little thoughtful planning is much more helpful than practicing a perfect smile.
For outdoor sessions, I love photographing close to sunset because the light is soft and beautiful. However, summer sunsets around South Bend can be late for young children. I completely understand if that timing will not work for your family.
Depending on the season, we can discuss an earlier shaded location, a studio session, or another option that fits your child’s schedule. A well-rested toddler is more important than forcing a specific time just because it sounds ideal.
You can tell your child that you are going to meet Chaeney, play together, and take some pictures. Try to keep it light and positive.
I would avoid repeatedly telling them they must behave, smile, or listen. That can make the session feel like a test before it even begins. They do not need to perform for me. They only need to show up as themselves.
A non-messy snack can work wonders during a quick break. Water is also helpful, especially during warm-weather sessions. If your child has a favorite small toy or comfort item, feel free to bring it too.
The comfort item does not have to appear in every photo. Still, knowing it is nearby may help your child feel safe. Also, yes, a little bribery is allowed. I am a mom too 😂
Your family’s outfits should look beautiful, but they should also allow your toddler to move. Avoid anything painfully itchy, too tight, or so delicate that you will feel nervous every time they touch the ground.
After booking, you will receive my style guide. I am also happy to help you choose outfits that photograph well together without making everyone look overly matched.
It is natural to remind your child to look, smile, or stand still. However, too many instructions can make some toddlers shut down or dig in their heels.
Once the session begins, try to let me lead. You can focus on loving, playing with, and connecting with your child. I will worry about getting their attention and capturing the photographs.

The right location can make a big difference, especially with toddlers. I help every family choose a setting based on the season, the look they love, and what will help their children feel comfortable.
When planning family photos with toddlers in South Bend, I also consider nap schedules, walking distances, and how much room a child may need to move.
Outdoor locations give active toddlers room to move and explore. St. Patrick’s County Park offers wooded trails, natural scenery, and plenty of space for playful family photographs. The Notre Dame and Saint Mary’s areas can also create a beautiful, timeless South Bend backdrop.

Every location has different lighting, walking distances, crowds, and seasonal details. Therefore, I will help you choose a place that makes sense for your family instead of sending you a giant list and leaving you to figure it out alone.
My cozy studio in South Bend is a great option when you want a simple setting, reliable weather, and fewer distractions. It also works well during the colder months or when an evening outdoor session would be too late for your child’s schedule.
Studio family sessions can still include plenty of movement, cuddles, and play. “Studio” definitely does not have to mean stiff or formal.
For some toddlers, home is the place where they feel most comfortable. An in-home session also preserves a meaningful part of your family’s life: the rooms where your children are growing up.
There is less pressure to get everyone out the door, and favorite toys are already nearby. Your home does not need to look like it belongs in a magazine, either. Good window light and the people you love are what matter most.

First, your session is not automatically ruined.
Toddlers have big feelings. If your child becomes upset, we can slow down, change activities, offer a snack, or give them time to reconnect with you. I will not act frustrated or make you feel rushed.
I also will not photograph a child who needs genuine comfort while expecting you to ignore their needs for the sake of a picture. We can take care of them first. Usually, once the pressure is gone, we can gently return to the session.
Some of my favorite images happen during those reconnecting moments. After all, your child finding comfort in your arms is a real and beautiful part of parenthood.

I want your final gallery to feel varied and complete. Depending on the session you choose and how the time unfolds, I aim to capture a mixture of:
Yes, we will work toward the classic everyone-looking photograph. However, you will also receive the laughter, movement, and in-between moments that make your family unique.
That depends on your child and the kind of gallery you want. A shorter session can work well for a quick update. Meanwhile, a full session gives us more time to warm up, explore, take breaks, and capture a wider variety of relationships.
We do not force it. I will use movement, games, and connection to invite natural expressions. A meaningful family photograph does not always need a giant smile, either. Sometimes a thoughtful look, a quiet cuddle, or a silly face captures your child even better.
Absolutely. Please share anything that could help your child feel comfortable, including sensory preferences, communication needs, favorite interests, or situations that may feel overwhelming. There is no need to share more than you are comfortable sharing. The information simply helps me plan a more supportive experience.
Yes! My South Bend studio is available for family sessions. I also offer in-home lifestyle sessions when that is the best fit for your family.
Earlier is always helpful, especially if you want a fall evening or a popular weekend. Still, it never hurts to ask about a closer date because openings and cancellations do happen.
If you have been putting off family pictures because you are worried your child will not cooperate, please do not wait for a magically perfect stage. Your toddler does not need to be calm, still, or camera-ready. They only need the freedom to be themselves.
The best family photos with toddlers in South Bend are not created through perfect behavior. They come from connection, patience, and giving children space to show their real personalities.
My goal is to give you photographs that feel warm, playful, and true to this season of your life. I will guide you through planning, help you choose the right location, and bring plenty of patience to the session itself.
