I’m a wife, mama x3, and lifestyle photographer based in Northwest Indiana. Most days you’ll find me with a coffee in hand, chasing toddlers, editing in cozy clothes, or dreaming up my next creative shoot.
I specialize in capturing families, motherhood, love stories, and all the beautiful chaos in between. So, the real-life, giggle-filled, messy, magical moments you’ll want to hold onto forever. I’m all about photos that feel like you: honest, warm, and full of connection.
Whether we're laughing through a family session or documenting a milestone, I promise to show up with patience, heart, and a little bit of silliness (especially if it helps your kids smile). I can’t wait to tell your story.

Welcoming a new baby into your family is one of the sweetest and most emotional seasons of life. Those early newborn days are full of tiny details, sleepy snuggles, and moments that somehow already feel nostalgic while you are living them. One of the most common questions I get as a lifestyle newborn photographer serving Granger Indiana and the surrounding South Bend area is “when to book a newborn photographer” and “when to take newborn photos” – honestly, these are great questions because before I had my own babies, I didn’t even know!
The timing of your newborn session truly does matter, especially if you want those cozy, sleepy baby images everyone loves. If you are currently expecting and starting to plan ahead, here is everything you need to know about booking and scheduling your newborn photos. 😊

The best time to book a newborn photographer is usually during your second trimester or early in your third trimester. Most newborn photographers only take a limited number of newborn sessions each month because babies arrive on their own schedule. Booking early helps make sure your photographer has availability around your due date.
Even though you do not know exactly when your baby will arrive yet, that is completely normal. Most newborn photographers, myself included, will tentatively reserve your due date on the calendar and then officially schedule the exact session date once baby is born.
Booking ahead also gives you time to plan outfits, prepare siblings for the session, ask questions before delivery, and decide whether you would prefer an in-home or studio newborn session. Most importantly, it allows you to feel less stressed during those early postpartum weeks when life feels like a blur.
If you wait until after your baby is born to reach out, many photographers may already be fully booked, especially during busy seasons.

If you are wondering when to take newborn photos, the ideal timeframe is typically within the first 7 to 21 days after birth. During those first few weeks, babies tend to be sleepier, easier to soothe, and naturally curl into those cozy newborn poses parents love.
Many of my newborn clients from Granger Indiana and the surrounding South Bend area choose to book their sessions shortly after delivering at local hospitals like Beacon Health System Birth Services so they can preserve those first sweet weeks before their baby changes so quickly.
This stage is often perfect for capturing all the tiny newborn details that change so quickly, from flaky skin and tiny fingers to sleepy stretches and curled-up snuggles.
With that being said, there is truly no such thing as “too late” for newborn photos. I always remind parents that babies are still tiny and beautiful after those first couple of weeks. Older newborns may simply be a little more awake, alert, and expressive during their session.
Some families actually prefer this stage because babies begin making more eye contact and showing little glimpses of their personality. Lifestyle newborn photography especially focuses more on connection, emotion, and storytelling rather than perfectly posed babies, which means there is flexibility when it comes to timing.

The timing of your newborn session can change the overall feel of your gallery. Sessions done within the first two weeks after birth often include very sleepy, cuddly images with babies curled up naturally and calmly resting in their parents’ arms.
Newborn sessions done a little later may include more awake moments, stretching, eye contact, and expressive reactions. Neither option is wrong. It simply depends on the type of memories you want documented.
As a newborn photographer serving Granger Indiana families, I always encourage parents not to stress too much about achieving “perfect” timing. Your baby’s story deserves to be documented whether they are five days old or five weeks old.

Most newborn photographers schedule newborn sessions tentatively around your due date. Once your baby arrives, you typically reach back out within the first few days postpartum to officially choose a session date and time.
This flexible scheduling system helps photographers accommodate babies who arrive early or late while still making sure families are able to reserve space on the calendar ahead of time.
Babies almost never arrive exactly when expected, and experienced newborn photographers fully understand that. That flexibility is built into the newborn booking process.

When planning when to take newborn photos, you will also want to think about the type of session experience you want.
In-home lifestyle newborn sessions tend to feel relaxed, cozy, and personal. These sessions focus heavily on natural interactions and connection while documenting your family in the comfort of your own home. Nursery details, cuddles on the couch, feeding moments, and real-life interactions often become some of the most meaningful images.
Studio lifestyle newborn sessions offer a different experience with soft natural lighting, neutral tones, minimal distractions, and a timeless environment. Many parents love studio sessions because they can simply show up and enjoy the experience without worrying about preparing their home.
Both options create beautiful memories, and the best choice simply depends on your family’s style and preferences.

The newborn stage passes faster than anyone ever expects. Tiny fingers, sleepy yawns, newborn stretches, and all the little details begin changing almost immediately.
Knowing when to book a newborn photographer and when to take newborn photos can help make the experience feel more relaxed and stress-free once your baby arrives.
If you are currently expecting and searching for a newborn photographer in Granger Indiana or the surrounding South Bend area, my biggest advice is to reach out earlier than you think you need to. Having your session planned ahead of time allows you to focus fully on soaking in those first precious weeks with your baby.
And if your baby is already here? You are absolutely not too late. Your family’s story is worth documenting exactly as it is right now.
